MFA in Interactive Media

  • Appreciation of the history, theory and current developments in the field of interactive media and games integrated with the ability to think and write critically about interactive concepts and game theory, formulate innovative design and/or research goals, and develop proposals for executing these goals.
  • Understanding of a broad range of interaction design techniques including brainstorming, prototyping, play testing, iterative process, reflection, design communication, system tuning, metrics, motivations and rewards, inputs, interface, arc of experience and polish.
  • Development of core media production skills, including creative leadership, collaboration, partnership, team building, project management, presentation, critique, integration of feedback, scheduling, scoping, budgeting, self-direction, skill sharing and project completion.
  • Development of interactive and visual storytelling skills including character creation, world building, screenwriting, visual expression, audio expression, and formation of an artistic voice.
  • Proficiency in interactive media and software implementation including procedural literacy, programming, 2D and 3D asset handling, digital prototyping, custom hardware design, code planning, code sharing, quality assurance.
  • Competency in linear media implementation including basic cinematography, editing, lighting, animation, sound design, use of special effects and motion capture.
  • Application of knowledge and skills in the innovative expression of interactive design and research.

BA in Interactive Entertainment
