Looking to connect with USC students for internship programs at your business?  The Internship Program at USC’s Industry Relations office at the School of Cinematic Arts can help!

BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH USC SCA INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

  • We work closely with all students majoring and minoring in School of Cinematic Arts topics.  The divisions we work with are:
    • TV/Film Production (grad and undergrad)
    • Writing for Screen and TV (grad and undergrad)
    • Animation & Digital Arts (grad and undergrad)
    • Cinema and Media Studies (PhD, grad and undergrad)
    • Interactive Media and Game Design (grad and undergrad)
    • Media Arts and Practice (undergrad and PhD)
    • Peter Stark Producing Program (grad only)
    • Business of Cinematic Arts (undergrad only)
    • All students minoring in SCA topics (undergrad only)
  • We can help you to scale your search to target specifically what you’re looking for.  We have resources if you’re looking for many candidates, as well as if you’re looking for someone with a very specific skill set.  A few services we provide:
    • Job board - reaches all 7 divisions, BCA and all students minoring; broadest reach
    • Featured Internships List - we keep a curated list of opportunities organized by job function/type so that students can look for opportunities specifically geared towards their interests; they send in application materials to us and we can forward on to you after checking to make sure they meet the criteria you set forth
    • Newsletter feature - we send out weekly emails to all of our students with new internship opportunities; from there, students apply directly to us and we forward on qualified candidates to you after ensuring they meet the criteria you set forth
    • Student Resume Files - our students reach out to our office regularly and send in their resumes for particular opportunities if they should arise; we check in with these students to see if they are interested if your opportunity matches and give them the specifics on how to apply so that they’re meeting your criteria

GUIDELINES

All internships must meet USC and federal guidelines for internships.  Generally our students work 8-20 hours per week. Opportunities can be paid or unpaid, and must be in-person in a professional environment/cannot be work from home.

For internships requiring school credit, students must have proof of hire before being able to register for course credit.  For information about add/drop deadlines for the internship class, please contact internships@cinema.usc.edu.

Unpaid internships must provide school credit and all unpaid internships must abide by the following federal guidelines:

https://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.htm

Paid internships do not require credit on USC’s end, but if it is required by your organization, be sure to notify USC students by the add/drop deadline so that they can register for course credit.
