Laura Alexander ’14 — is developing her series Everyday Insanity with Fox. Everyday Insanity is an uplifting drama about three wildly different families who form a "created family" to support each other after their loved ones are diagnosed with mental illnesses.

Brett Baer — has been given a pilot commitment by ABC Studios for Mourning Songs, which he will co-executive produce. Mourning Songs is based on the life and Instagram feed of songwriter Ryan Langer. 

Thembi Banks ‘14 – completed her short film, Baldwin Beauty as part of Powderkeg’s female director incubator.

Sheldon Candis ‘03 — directed the motion capture feature When The Lights Are Brightest as part of NBA 2k20. This year’s single-player story mode centers around Che, a talented player who quits college basketball to atone for a wrong committed against his best friend and college teammate, Porter.

Ryan Coogler ’11 — will produce the comic book series adaptation Bitter Root, alongside Sev Ohanian ’12 for Legendary. Set during the vibrant Harlem Renaissance of 1924, Bitter Root focuses on a fractured family of once-great monster hunters.

R.J. Cutler — is directing a Billie Ellish documentary for Apple on the 17-year old musical phenomenon.

Karen Croner '87 — is currently creating My Glory is I Had Such Friends, a 6 hour limited series for JJ Abrams and Apple TV starring Jennifer Garner. Croner is also adapting the feature Lillian Boxfish Takes A Walk, and co-writing a limited series with Richard Linklater.

Paul Feig '84 — is producing and directing a remake of the British single-camera comedy This Country forFox.

Brian Grazer ‘74 and Ron Howard -- are producing a Netflix adaptation of the hit musical Rent.

David S. Goyer ‘88 — is producing Appetite, a missing-persons thriller.

Jeanne Jo ‘17 – completed her short film Rachel From New York as part of Powderkeg’s female director incubator.

Aaron Kaplan ‘90 — has a pilot commitment with CBS for an Untitled eSports comedy which he will executive produce. The story is inspired by Rick Fox’s real-life experiences of buying eSports company Gravity Gaming.

Carla Kettner ’83 — is producing the pilot for Florida Man, a quirky rom-com procedural set in the Florida Panhandle.

Nahnatchka Khan ‘94 — is producing the pilot for Valley Trash, a single-cam LA private school comedy for ABC.

Sherry Marsh ‘83 — is developing Fania, a scripted about the history of Fania Records, the label that popularized salsa music. Founded by Johnny Pacheco and Jerry Masucci, New York-based Fania Records is considered by many to be “the Motown of Latin Music.” 

Raamla Mohamed ‘08 — is writing and producing Reasonable Doubt. Kerry Washington is also a producer on the 1-hour legal drama. The story follows Charlie Stewart, a highly successful defense attorney with questionable ethics.

Ruvin Orbach — has received a half dozen awards for his short film Constant Treason. It also has an offer for distribution from ShortsTV.

Kay Oyegun ‘13 — Signed an overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV. She is also adapting Angie Thomas’ book On the Come Up for Paramount.

Ben Queen ’96 — has signed withVervefor representation.

Shonda Rhimes ‘94 — announced Shondaland’s latest project Notes on Love, an anthology series. The collection of stories centers on marriage with each episode coming from the lens of a high-profile creative.

Brad Riddell ‘02 and Sandy Sternshein ‘02 — co-wrote and directed Later Days.  The story is about a frustrated stay-at-home dad who invites all of his high school friends to an ‘80s-themed surprise party for his exhausted corporate wife on her 40th birthday.

Katy Sherman ’13 — is now a manager at HBO Max in the original comedy series and stand-up specials department.

Katie Wech ’02 — has a script commitment with 20th Century Fox for The Two Dolls. Wech will write and executive produce the one-hour drama. The Two Dolls revolves around “Two Dolls,” who dominate the cutthroat world of high-end Malibu Real Estate.

Max Winkler ‘06 — has received a pilot green light with Freeform for Last Summer, a one-hour drama thriller which he will be directing. Last Summer is an unconventional thriller that takes place over three summers — ‘93, ‘94, ‘95—in a small Texas town.

James Vanderbilt ‘99 — has formed Project X Entertainment, an independent production/financing company with a multi-year first look and co-development television deal with Spyglass Media Group.

John Wells ‘82 — is producing Maid, a female-driven dramedy series, for Netflix.

Athena Wickham ‘02 — is producing The Peripheral, which has been green lit to series by Amazon.
